Discover Uganda With Local Experts

UG Xplora is a locally owned Ugandan tour company specializing in unforgettable wildlife encounters, gorilla trekking experiences, and tailor-made East African adventures. Founded by a team of passionate Ugandans, we have grown from a small operation into one of the country's most trusted safari operators, driven by our deep love for the Pearl of Africa and our commitment to sharing its wonders with the world.

With over 12 years of experience, our passionate team helps travelers discover the beauty of Uganda through authentic, safe, and responsible tourism. We believe that the best way to experience Uganda is through the eyes of those who call it home — our guides are not just experts in wildlife and terrain, they are storytellers, conservationists, and proud ambassadors of Ugandan culture. Every itinerary we create is a reflection of our intimate knowledge of the land, its people, and its extraordinary biodiversity.

From the misty slopes of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to the thundering waters of Murchison Falls, from the sprawling savannahs of Queen Elizabeth National Park to the tranquil shores of Lake Bunyonyi, we craft journeys that go beyond the ordinary. Our commitment to conservation means that every safari with UG Xplora contributes directly to protecting Uganda's natural heritage — 15% of our profits are reinvested into community development and wildlife conservation projects across the country. When you travel with us, you're not just a tourist; you're a partner in preserving one of Africa's most precious ecosystems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before planning your Uganda safari.

How much does gorilla trekking cost?
A gorilla trekking permit in Uganda costs $800 per person for foreign non-residents, $700 for foreign residents, and 300,000 UGX for East African citizens. Our packages typically include the permit cost, accommodation, transportation, and guide services. The total package price varies based on the duration and level of luxury you choose.
Are gorilla permits included in your packages?
Yes! All our gorilla trekking packages include the gorilla permit. We secure permits on your behalf well in advance — sometimes 3-6 months ahead during peak seasons (June-September and December-February) to guarantee availability. This is one of the key advantages of booking with us.
What is the best time to visit Uganda?
Uganda is a year-round destination, but the best times are during the dry seasons: June to September and December to February. These periods offer easier trekking conditions and better wildlife viewing. The wet seasons (March-May and October-November) bring lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and sometimes lower prices — ideal for birdwatching and photography.
Is Uganda safe for tourists?
Absolutely. Uganda is one of the safest countries in Africa for tourists. Our government prioritizes tourism security, with dedicated tourism police in national parks and major tourist areas. We also provide 24/7 support and private transportation with experienced driver-guides throughout your journey.
Do I need a visa to visit Uganda?
Most visitors need a visa to enter Uganda. You can easily apply online for an e-Visa through the Uganda Immigration portal. Single-entry visas cost $50, while the East African Tourist Visa ($100) allows entry to Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda. We can guide you through the process and provide supporting documents.
Can you arrange airport transfers?
Yes! All our safari packages include airport pickup and drop-off at Entebbe International Airport. Our driver-guide will meet you with a sign, assist with luggage, and transport you comfortably in our well-maintained safari vehicles. We also offer meet-and-greet services for added convenience.
What should I pack for a Uganda safari?
We recommend: lightweight neutral-colored clothing, long-sleeved shirts and pants for evenings, sturdy walking boots, a rain jacket, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, a camera with zoom lens, and a warm fleece for cooler highland areas. We provide a detailed packing list with every booking confirmation.
